Abstract:
Notable Trees contribute to the character and amenity values of the District, and their loss or modification can have a significant impact on an environment.
A tree is assessed as being notable under the Standard Tree Evaluation Method (STEM). Notable Trees must meet assessment criteria that determine that the tree’s condition, amenity and notable values are high enough. The criteria include the trees age, occurrence, vitality, stature, and any historic associations or scientific rarity.
Notable Tree assessments were carried out in November and December 2019. All trees were surveyed from ground level, with a visual tree assessment (VTA) and STEM evaluation carried out. Photographs of each tree or group of trees were taken, including close ups of any significant tree defects. No soil samples or tree samples were collected.

Notable Trees are privately-owned. Trees within Council-owned land are protected and managed under an alternative process.
