This data is collected to support the maintenance and management of WDC's water supply network. This layer includes fields that classify, e.g., material, length, diameter etc.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>For other water supply pipe assets, please refer to the other water pipe datasets: Water Pipes Other and Water Service Lines.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>A Pipe, in general terms, represents a group of asset types that can be categorised by the following definition – ‘A man-made, hollow tube used for the transmission of water’.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Pipes can be used for a variety of purposes including:</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Delivering potable water to network users</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Conveying stormwater and wastewater to treatment facilities and outfalls</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Ducting used to enclose pipes or other linear asset</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Pipe asset types include conduit, ventilation pipe, culvert, facility pipe, manifold, network main, service line, subsoil drain and tunnel.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Facility Pipe: the reticulation pipework within a Council facility headwork's site that connects to plant assets. The site pipework stops at the headwork's facility boundary where it becomes a network main.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Network Main: a reticulation pipe that forms part of the 3 Waters network supply.
