This data is collected to support the maintenance and management of WDC's stormwater network. This layer includes fields that classify, e.g., material, length, diameter etc.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>For other stormwater pipe assets, please refer to the other stormwater pipe datasets: Network Mains, Facility Pipes &amp; Culverts and Stormwater Service Lines.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>A Pipe, in general terms, represents a group of asset types that can be categorised by the following definition – ‘A man-made, hollow tube used for the transmission of water’.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Pipes can be used for a variety of purposes including:</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Delivering potable water to network users</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Conveying stormwater and wastewater to treatment facilities and outfalls</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Ducting used to enclose pipes or other linear asset</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Pipe asset types include conduit, ventilation pipe, culvert, facility pipe, manifold, network main, service line, subsoil drain and tunnel.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Subsoil Drain: a slotted or perforated pipe laid below ground, used as a stormwater solution to drain excess water from the grounds surface and surrounding soils and usually connected to a sump or soak pit.
