This data is collected to support the maintenance and management of WDC's water supply network. This layer includes fields that classify, e.g., lid type, material, volume etc.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>A Chamber, in general terms, represents a group of asset types that can be categorised by the following term – ‘An enclosed underground vessel of any shape or size, often connected to a collection or transmission system’.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Chambers can be used for a variety of purposes including:</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- As a wet well for housing pumps or other equipment</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Acting as a junction point for inspecting pipework, such as a manhole</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>- Underground storage for a collection system</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Chamber asset types include bypass chamber, dry well, equipment chamber, flush tank, inspection point, manhole, septic tank, splitter chamber, sump, surge chamber and wet well.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Equipment Chamber: an underground vessel with an accessible lid used to house equipment that allows for both inspection and maintenance of the equipment or protection from the environmental conditions. Used to house equipment such as an air release valve or electrical controls for operational purposes.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Flush Tank: a vessel connected to a water supply that is used to temporarily store and then periodically release a volume of water to flush a sewer pipeline for cleaning. Flush tanks are used at the end of a sewer pipeline to flush any residual debris that gets stuck due to lack of flow at the end of the line.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Inspection Point: a small underground vessel with an accessible lid that is used for easily accessing the pipeline for maintenance purposes. Primarily used on a smaller size pipe for cleaning the line, removing blockages or for access for CCTV camera assessment.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Manhole: an underground vessel with an accessible lid built in a variety of shapes or sizes and used as access point at either end of a connecting pipe network. Normally installed at a maximum of every 100m spacing on a reticulated network. The manhole acts as a junction point that allows for inspections assessments of the pipe and manhole, or performing routine maintenance such as water blasting or blockage removal. Manholes lids can be solid or vented thus allowing for venting of the pipeline.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>Wet Well: an underground vessel with an accessible lid that act as the holding chamber for gravity flow sewer and stormwater systems.
