Abstract:Esplanades as defined in Waimakariri District Plan Chapters 3 and 33. The esplanades overlays identifies water bodies where esplanade reserves or strips are proposed to be taken by Council in accordance with Sections 77 and 229 of the Resource Management Act. An esplanade reserve or strip is usually taken for conservation purposes, public access or to enable recreational use (Section 229 RMA). For the Waimakariri District Council the flowing water bodies have been identified as being appropriate for esplanade reserves and strips: Cam River, Coastal Margins, Courtnay Stream, Cust River, Kaikanui Stream, Kaiapoi River, North, Middle and South Brooks, Ohoka Stream, Saltwater Creek, Taranaki Stream and Waikuku Stream.Update Frequency:As needed.Point of Contact:Waimakariri District Council.Lineage:Data was digitized using aerial imagery and LINZ parcel data.
