The list of natural character features include those attributes identified in the NZ Coastal Policy Statement and the National Policy Statement on Freshwater Management. There are three groups of Scheduled Freshwater Bodies shown, Schedule 1 are those that contain the highest number natural character features, and as such have the largest setbacks. Schedule 2 and 3 freshwater bodies contain less natural character features and as such have reduced setbacks. Not shown are unscheduled freshwater bodies, which are those freshwater bodies that have not been assessed. The map shows the outline of the freshwater body delineates the channel edge of the freshwater body.
