This data is collected to support the maintenance and management of WDC's stockwater network. This layer includes fields that classify, e.g., condition, status, location, etc.A Race, in general terms, represents a group of asset types that can be categorised by the following definition – ‘A long natural or manmade depression in the ground used for the transmission of water’.Races can be used for a variety of purposes including:- Carrying surface water to be used for stock water or irrigation- Removing stormwater from its collection point as part of a drainage systemRace asset types include network drain, receiving waterway, process channel and water race.Network Drain: an artificially man made channel within the ground’s surface from which a body of water flows and carries surface water and is open to the air. These form part of the drainage network owned and maintained by the Council.Receiving Waterway: a naturally formed channel within the grounds surface from which a body of water flows and carries surface water and is open to the air, these can be either ECan or Council owned and maintained.Water races: small canal-like waterways.Please refer to the 3 Waters Asset Information Metadata Standard Data Standard for further information.Update Frequency: As required.Point of Contact: Waimakariri District CouncilLineage:Data has been compiled from a number of sources and its accuracy may vary (e.g. Field Verification, Deposited Plans, AsBuilt plans and forms, sketches, aerial photo, Google Street View).
