These may also be referred to as ‘water tobies’

- Backflow preventers, which can either be part of the water meter box, or may be a separate asset downstream of the water meter box

- Tanker filling points or fire connections on the water supply network.

- The demarcation point on a gravity service lines (or laterals) that defines where private ownership begins

Where multiple assets (e.g. backflow preventers, isolation valves, restrictor) are contained in a single box these are represented by a single asset. Commonly used in flush tanks on a wastewater network.

Gravity Connection: a gravity fed service lateral supply connection from the private property to the local authority supply main connection point. Gravity connections are used for sewer or stormwater service lines primarily. The point should be located at the demarcation point between the Council service line and the private lateral. This is normally located at the property boundary.

Pressure Sewer Connection: the boundary kit or valve from where a private on-site pump station with a grinder pump that grinds the raw wastewater into a slurry before pumping it into the local authority supply main. The asset should be located where there is a boundary kit installed. Where there is no boundary kit it should be located at the demarcation point between the Council service line and the private lateral. Includes box (if installed) and all associated fittings such as manifold, isolation valve etc.

Septic Tank Effluent Pump (STEP) Sewer Connection: the boundary kit or valve from where a private septic tank chamber with electric pumps to pump the effluent from the private property through a service lateral to the local authority supply main. Where there is no boundary kit, the asset should be located at the demarcation point between the Council service line and the private lateral. Includes box (if installed) and all associated fittings such as manifold, isolation valve etc.

Please refer to the 3 Waters Asset Information Metadata Standard Data Standard for further information.

Update Frequency:

Daily

Point of Contact:

Waimakariri District Council

Lineage:

Data has been compiled from a number of sources and its accuracy may vary (e.g. Field Verification, Deposited Plans, AsBuilt plans and forms, sketches, aerial photo, Google Street View).
